Change IP address of Proxmox Backup Server

If you change the IP address of a PBS host, how do you update that on the Proxmox/PVE host?

  • PVE doesn’t allow you to update a PBS’s address through the UI. So, you could create a new storage.
    • On PBS side, you may need to create a new user and API token, plus update the owner of older backups.
  • A simpler alternative is to just update the /etc/pve/storage.cfg file on the PVE side.
