Spinning up PBS in the cloud seems fairly easy:

  • Add deb http://download.proxmox.com/debian/pbs bookworm pbs-no-subscription to the /etc/apt/sources.list file.
  • apt install proxmox-backup-server. (Not proxmox-backup as this requires ZFS etc.)
