Just a few days back, I got worried about my gym habits: given I am lifting fairly heavy weights at an age of ~35, how badly could I injure myself, especially because I began serious lifting late in my life? Well, I injured my lower back today while squatting. It is painful but I am not sure how bad it really is - I think I’ll find that out by tomorrow.

It may be time for me to work more on machines (as they are probably safer than free weights) or stick to lower weights or rep volume.

In case I change my routine, here are the highest weights I did 1-3 reps at:

  • Squats: 205
  • Bench press: 145.
  • Deadlifts: 280.
  • Overhead press: 100.
