  • Blowout:
    • Russia is probably the second largest oil producer in the world. (Didn’t know that.)
    • There was a time in 2003, a short time after 9/11, when people thought Russia and Putin could be allies for the west. (Reminds me of the time when US once supported Bin Laden and he later came back to bite them.)
      • That could’ve made US counter OPEC’s control over oil supplies and pricing. Could be more about creating a narrative on what the US wanted to believe. (Maybe confirmation bias.)
      • Turns out, that optimism was mistaken.
    • Oil companies: corrupt, casino, greedy, not merit based.
